Servant of the Lake Rusty Lake Timeline

Servant of the Lake is a prequel to Rusty Lake: Roots, set decades earlier at the Vanderboom estate. It fills the biggest gap in the series: what led to the 1859 elixir experiment. Here is how the game slots into the wider Rusty Lake timeline.

Where This Game Fits

Until now, the series never explained what pushed the brothers toward the fateful 1859 experiment. Servant of the Lake shows the first, imperfect attempt — and the family rivalry behind it. English sources place the game in spring 1839, roughly two decades before Roots.

What the Game Reveals

The biggest reveal (story spoilers)

The servant is Harvey. Mortally wounded when the structure collapses, he is saved when Kate pours the remaining elixir into his mouth — transforming him into the parrot who appears across the entire series: caged by Laura in Cube Escape: Seasons, playable in Rusty Lake Hotel and Harvey’s Box, and taking orders from Mr. Owl. Servant of the Lake is his origin story.
